We are incredibly proud to announce that Astroscale Japan has selected Space Inventor to build the satellite platform for their groundbreaking REFLEX-J mission

Astroscale is the global leader in in-orbit servicing (IOS), and REFLEX-J is an ambitious project designed to demonstrate chemical propellant refueling in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

By extending satellite lifespans and unlocking new operational possibilities, this mission is a massive step toward building a sustainable, circular economy in space.

How is Space Inventor supporting this mission?

In the architecture of this IOS, there are two key players: the "servicer" and the "client."

Astroscale Japan is building the servicer satellite – the advanced spacecraft that will provide the refuelling and maintenance.

Space Inventor has been tasked with building the "client" microsatellite – the spacecraft that will safely receive the services in orbit – as well as providing full mission operations support from launch to decommissioning.

Space Inventor’s deep vertical integration provides Astroscale Japan and the REFLEX-J mission with three distinct advantages:

  • Comprehensive Oversight: Stringent quality control, full hardware traceability, and careful coordination between Japan- and Denmark-based mission control centres.
  • Agile Customisation: The flexibility to rapidly adapt our architecture to meet evolving technical and payload needs.
  • Proven Reliability: A robust foundation built on extensive LEO and GEO flight heritage, delivering TRL-9 hardware at an industrial scale.

Our promise is to Make Space for Progress. We couldn't be more excited to support Astroscale Japan’s pioneering mission to fuel the progress of sustainability and flexibility of orbital operations.

Here’s to the future of in-space refuelling.
